Welcome to the Horry Uses lists. This is a low traffic list for occasional administritive announcements. This is a free service I give to friends and family. It's on my own computer so occasionally things randomly change appearence, gain new features or disappear altogether. Nothing is guaranteed but I try my best to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. The only thing I ask in return is you treat the system with respect. Frequently Asked Questions -------------------------- Q: How do I read my e-mail using a proper e-mail client? A: Use the following servers: Two options available: POP3 Server: pop3.horry.org IMAP Server: imap.horry.org (The IMAP server also supports SSL: highly recommended) For SMTP information please ask your ISP. Q: When I use the secure login feature on the e-mail my browser complains about not being able to verify the certificate. A: This is because it's a self-signed certificate, in other words I didn't pay one of the certification authorities to obtain a trusted certificate. The cost of this is $50 per year, if someone is willing to pay this I'll get a genuine certificate... :-) Q: Will you host my web page? A: Yes I will, at a cost of $10 per month which includes DNS and E-Mail forwarding. Bear in mind we only have a small amount of bandwidth so I can only host a small site. Q: Will you host my mailing list?: A: Yes, at a cost of $5 per month. Q: Can I have a shell account? A: No, I used to offer shells at one time and they were heavily abused. Q: Will you host my Eggdrop/chat server/game server/etc. A: No, such things are a magnet for denial of service attacks To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the Users Archives.
Using Users
To post a message to all the list members, send email to users@horry.org. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Users
Subscribe to Users by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
